Apps

Hi Everyone,

Was wondering if anyone had any experiences with building or putting together and iphone or any sort of app? Or even if they know of anyone that has and what sort of difficulties they had or success.
Thanks everyone, hope you are all enjoying the course aswell

Steve.

Hi Steve,

I'd like to know how to build these apps too. I heard the editor of Money magazine on Friday being interviewed about a major feature in the new issue about building businesses online. One of the things she spoke about was how to build or have experts build apps for you. I'm buying this magazine on Monday maybe you should too. Good luck,

Wendy

Thanks for that Wendy I will check it out. I have an idea and have just started speaking to people about it. I have no idea on the process to be honest so any help will be great.  I seem to be having trouble finding out where I pull my information from making sure that it is legal to do so and possible. Exciting thou Look forward to hearing how you go.

Hi Steve
I'm in the final stages of building an iPhone app. Its a simple matter of registering with Apple then paying a programming guru ($15/ hr in India) to build it. I have used oDesk.com to source a programmer and fiverr.com for some graphics. It's been an interesting and valuable process. My simple app evolved into something more complex. I would love to start again with what I know now!

You can also get an "iPhone app" app from Missing Manuals  http://appdevmanual.com/ . I just read the rego stuff and left the programming to the guru.

Hey Rob,
In regards to devoloping your app what did you do in regards of due diligence for weather you would sell it or have it free with upgrades or have advertising etc on it? Any useful links. Had an idea for one this week so am in the infant stages. Also how long did it take to devolop you different apps with o desk etc?

oops, sorry Vic, just saw your post. My app was a functional business app so I am selling it for $1.99 rather than rely on ads to generate income.
I discovered that "developing" is a very different process than "programming" and it gets very messy if you try do both together. For my next app, I have "developed" a complete mock-up so the programmer can concentrate on simply "programming". I can also ask for a set quote rather than an hourly rate. My first app took 5months because of all the back & forwards with developing and programing.
