Hi All, I have 2 questions.....
1) Has anyone signed up and used the PriceFinder website?
2) Does anyone know the difference between PriceFinder and Real Estate Investar? Which is the better website?
Cheers, Tamara

Hi Tamara
I have dabbled in the Pricefinder website and quite like the program. Just this morning, I was looking at both Pricefinder and RE Investar. From the research point of view, I am not sure how they are different (they both have previous sales histories and sales comparisons etc). There are a few elements that Pricefinder has that RE Investar doesn't (I have heard that Pricefinder has a tool that finds where the Housing Commission houses are so if that is of concern for you then this could be worthwhile). Looking at RE investar, it is more of a portfolio tracker tool as well as providing analysis.
RE Investar is run/owned by Residex (from the bottom of the screen) so if you are just looking for comparable prices for 1-2 houses then I would be buying individual property reports from RP Data or Residex, as opposed to paying $250/month where you may not be using all the features. While Pricefinder costs $150/month, from what I have seen and heard about Pricefinder, it offers more information for analysing a potential purchase.
Confused?? So am I! But in short, I am going to try Pricefinder for a month (just make sure that I have a few proeprties in line to analyse first!). Talking with others, I have never found out which company has the 'best' or 'most accurate' data - RP Data, Residex, Pricefinder (I think there are a few others as well) - possibly someone else has some insight here?
Cheers,
I am using investar and finding the valuation reports invaluable
I got 3 months free access to Price Finder with my property magazine subscription. I found it very useful for seeing previous rental and sale prices for particular properties, although the data is not there for all properties. One thing that was really useful was the information about when the property was first listed for sale and how much it was listed for. For properties stuck on the market you can see how the price has been dropped over time. I also like the reports you can produce straight off the system.
For me it would be difficult to justify the cost of an ongoing subscription as it's quite expensive but perhaps I will pay the fee to access Price Finder only when I'm in active purchasing phases.

Does Price finder have all the filter options of investar for locating yield returns, % cost from median etc.?
Kind regards,
Brendan King
Hi Brendan, pricefinder doesn't have those features as far as I know. I have access from my previous employer.
I have recently found a really good deal for myrpdata which has some good features although I think Investar has a lot features targeted at investors.

Hi Michelle,
Where might I get that really good deal for RPdata you're talking about in your post?

I ended up going with Pricefinder. It seems to be part of REIWA.. The data looks like it's there and phone support is pretty good. Not sure how it stacks up against RPdata though. I can pop lists of sales out to Excel and do mathematical analysis and they've alink to Google maps showing where properties are located.
