Hi All, My name is Steve and I have just started the property apprenticeship. A bit behind everyone else but am up and running. I live in Mackay in NQ, have been here for about 18months, originally from the Gold Coast but enjoying the extra $ available up here. Have a beautiful family of 3 at the moment with another on the way and looking to try and set us up somewhat with the extra money I am now earning. Would love to connect with anyone especially anyone living or even investing in the Bowen Basin. Only new to investing but happy to be of any assitance to anyone if I can.

Karen62

Hi all, I'm Karen from Sydney. I've been buying and selling property as a hobby for the past 20 years.  Now my sister and I are forming a company and going to buy renovate sell for a living. I don't have my course materials yet but I can't wait to get started.

Ron Henderson

Hi, Ron here. Canberra based - dont hold this against me. Just turned 50, so I guess I am in my "twilight" years. Lovely better half, Karen and two children. We have a couple of properties in Aus (1 commercial and 2 residential) and a few in the US. All are held in trusts. I managed to be the only person to have lost money on property in Vanuatu, so I thought it is about time I undertook a course, rather than muddeling about. We are just off for a 5 week holiday so will only be beginning the course in March.

Hi everyone,

I have just gotten up to speed with the course, so I am adding to this forum topic quite some time after everyone else.

My name is Catherine. I live in Melbourne. I am 26 and just bought my first investment property in Townsville a few months ago. It is slightly positively-geared.
I am currently working as the Curator of the Collection at Monash University Museum of Art, on a maternity leave contract until mid-July. I am planning to head to the UK later in the year to study a Masters in Preventative Conservation. This plan is slightly at odds with my investing goals, but its only 1 year full time, and then I will no doubt be back into the workforce.

I learnt about this course at the Melbourne Market Update in November 2011, which was just a few weeks before I settled on the Townsville property. I felt quite nervous throughout the process of buying the property, wondering constantly if there was anything I was not asking that I should be asking. I thought that this course would be a great thing to do so that next time I feel prepared, well informed and confident, and know that I am mitigating all of the possible risks. Plus I love learning. So far its been great - thank you Steve, and the propertyinesting.com team.

I look forward to meeting some of you at the next Melbourne update and at the Conference in June. Otherwise I'll see you online.

Happy studying and lucrative investing,

Catherine.

Sorry if I sound a bit silly, but while listening to webinars re investment and also about assets, I found it stopped half way and I am not sure how to listen to the rest of both seminars.  In other words how do you get to listen to the other half of the seminar when the first part is completed and there is a pause?  Can some one shed some light on this.  Thanks.

Hi annette, that would have been really annoying ! I didnt have the same problem sorry. maybe double check your internet speed capabilities. I used to only have ADSL1 and it was so slow, i could never download movies or anything of length. it kept pausing and stopping. We upgraded to cable and ive had no worries at all since . hope you can figure it out ! xx natalie

abriggs

Thank you for your suggestion, yes you are right I have adsl1 perhaps that is the reason.  I am wondering how I could overcome this, as there is no choice we can not upgrade until the telstra line for our area is upgraded.  I will have to rely on the notes/slides

Hello Steve, Renee and likeminded investors,

I’m so excited about this course, I have read "0 - 130" and in the middle of "0 - 260". I Kept asking myself where do I start, it seemed to daunting. However one fateful day I completed a survey, received a free budget calculator, and was given an opportunity to start somewhere. I’m almost 30; work full time, debt free, and still rent in the private market. It’s time to "Up Skill" and achieve my dreams of investing and owning my family home. I look forward to meeting everyone at the Sydney market update, and hopefully if work commitments pan out the 3 day seminar in Melbourne. I am Sydney based and welcome the thought of any other Sydney based investors conducting the course that would like to communicate. Good luck and all the best to everyone in your aspirations towards financial freedom.

Hi everyone, my name is Greg and I am a 31 yr old Rugby union coach, who has been investing for about 3 years and thought this course would be a great way to satisfy my increasing appetite for information on property investment.
I work long hours and travel frequently so would be interested in any advice on firms or organizations that may be useful in building a portfolio such as buyers agents, project managing firms etc that I can use as a team to meet my needs on the ground.
I look forward to catching up over the course.

Cheers

G'day to you like minded property nuts. How good is it to have passion?
I'm Wayne & it does not surprise me to see that I am the only one who lives in the 'GONG' (Wollongong) actually Shell Cove to be precise. I would rather live back in gorgeous sunny Perth however "happy wife, happy life" & for a season we will be closer to her family, mum, dad etc.
I have jumped aboard this train as my way has been slow & not very successful. In 1997 I went to a Dolf De Roos seminar in Sydney where I lived for 5 years & was hit with the property bug. The only problem was that I believed along with Renae Rivkin & a few other boof heads that the market was WAY over valued. Well then it doubled didn't it?
So after moving to Perth in 2001 I saw that property was CHEAP. However I still didn't learn my lesson as I was more passionate about business so went down that path.
Finally my wife & I took the plunge in 2005 in our first home in a northern suburb of Perth & in less than a year watched our $270K house turn into a $510K house without doing anything. So here we are a very sad 15 years since 1997 & I have only 3 properties. However my good news, I have 2 that are very positively geared, I have good equity, I have cashflow from business, $600K pre approval for more property, a gorgeous wife, 3 gorgeous healthy kids & I have peace & purpose from our awesome creator.
So with Steve's help I fully expect to reach at least $20K passive income per month within 3 years. Hope you are up for the challenge Steve because I am.
I wish all the very best to you all & hope I can add value to you also.
A BIG GOD BLESS YA!
Wayne

Hi like minded investors.
My name is Dan and I am pumped to be starting the course.  I am 33 and live in Melb but travel overseas with work (East Timor) for a few months of the year.  I have be property investing for approx 5yrs and have 5investment properties (2slightly positive and the others about neutral) but I would say it has been mostly luck or gut feel and as Steve would say unsophisticated investing.  I am keen to move towards a better system and sophisticated investing.  I have  a beautiful wife and leave on the mornington peninsula.
I look forward to being around like minded people.
I love the fact that everyone on this site is like minded and has invested in themselves.  Looking forward to the journey

Hi,

My name is Catherine and am from Port Melbourne in VIC. A bit of a late starter, but better late than never :)

I currently have 4 investment properties and thought I was doing quite well, but now I realise that I have got the structure, finance and plan going forward all wrong.... I am keen to learn what I am doing wrong and how not to make the same mistakes again.

This is going to be a big eye opener for me, and I look forward to going on this journey with you all.

I bet you are alot better off than many others Catherine, and the fact that you actually want to lean more and rectify mistakes shows that you have the ability recognise where you might have gone wrong, and the desire to change it ! Keep your chin up and you will go a long way! GOODLUCK !

Tamara43

Hi Steve and fellow property gurus (or soon to be property gurus).  My name is Tamara and I live in the suburb of Rosebery (adjacent Mascot for those more familiar with that suburb) in Sydney.  My husband and I bought this place around 14 years ago after we sold our 2 bedroom unit in Rose Bay (which actually was a BAD decision because it sold again 2 years later for "double" the price !!!!). I guess the only reason we sold it was to gain the deposit to buy a 3 bedroom house, which we did.

So far we have done a lot of renovating to this place including extending and completely gutting the kitchen / laundry area, renovating the 2 bathrooms, redoing the electricity, the guttering, adding skylights, painting, landscaped etc... I think we've overcapitalised, but I figure this is where we want to stay for a long time and we know this area has become and is still becoming very popular as it's close to the city, beaches, shopping and many schools etc....We're not looking to sell and we actually own this property (on paper anyway).

The reason I joined up for this course is we're looking to secure our financial and our kids financial future. We have 2 "Special Needs" children, one of which is Autistic and may need a lot of additional care when my husband and I are no longer around (hopefully a long way off yet!!!). We've dabbled in property in the past, as you can see from above, but never really successfully. Seeing as my husband would also like to retire sooner than later, and has only recently had an "ah ha" moment in realising that "profit is better than wages" (to quote Sam Saggers) we would like to be able to purchase enough passive income properties to replace his wages plus more.

I look forward to the journey and am ready, willing and able to studying all that I can to make our dreams and goals achieveable.  Bye for now....Tamara

Gerrard

Hi there everyone, Gerrard here. I've not long ago enrolled to do the program.  I'm very excited to be apart of this but at the same time scared to death after going over some of the forums posted and looking at what's ahead both in the program and current events out in the open market place.

I'm wondering if there are any group get togethers that happen on a regular basis in the Melbourne CBD area, I would love to be apart of that?

Looking forward to speaking with you all again very soon.

Gerrard.

Hi Steve, the team at propertyinvesting.com and fellow property investors.

I'm Rachel. I'm a 27 yo ICU nurse (and BOMBERS supporter) from Melbourne (Heidelberg) and I love property. I have been interested in property since buying my first apartment when I was 22. Since then I have purchased and sold several properties. I have learnt from the many mistakes I have made and i thought that i was now on the right track, until i heard Steve speak and realized that I could be doing things a whole lot better. I need a clear strategy and I need to go back to basics and get the RIGHT EDUCATION. I want to be a proficient investor and I see this course as a step towards that.

I currently have a one bedroom OTP apartment settling in South Brisbane which I will never do again. And I'm also building in Gladstone and Mackay. Steve..... I promise that I have stopped buying and I wont buy anymore property until I've completed this course.

When i first became interested in property, nobody I knew was on my page and my family didnt understand why i was happy to live in a rental or drive around in a crap car (with lots of dents). Since then I have learnt the importance of networking and I now have an awesome group of property friends and property professionals who I share resources with and call on regularly for advice. I enjoy learning from other's experiences and if anyone is interested in meeting up for a property chat & coffee in Melbourne, I'm keen.

I wish you all the best of luck with the course and have faith that we have the best teacher in the industry!!

Property is a better investment than hand bags & shoes!!!

Sim

Rachel, are you still driving your 'crap' car?

I am getting around in my first car - a delightful (in my eyes) but very 'tired' little orange Datsun station wagon (1979), which looks incredibly out of place in the car park of my work (Public Service land)! Sometimes I think I will get a new car, but I would much rather save the money to invest!

Sim

bethp

Hi, I am on the same page as you guys re cars!  I bought a new demo model holden astra in the 1980s (should have put a deposit on a flat instead).  but then I drove the car for nearly 20 years - until someone ran into it and wrote it off and gave me whiplash!  That's I guess why I was able to pay off my mortgage in 15 years cos I never spent money!  though I see now I shoulda coulda been out investing in properties...
I certainly got the vibe that I was looked down upon in Canberra for driving such a little old bomb.
I bought a new demo model four years ago, and will probably drive it for the next 15 years - unless I get so rich in the meantime I decide to play around with something else - though a new car would be about the last thing on my list!  My little car still feels brand new and I love it.

Hey Rachel -you are absolutely correct - get the education first and utilise it in the market. Well done thus far for your efforts.  Sorry to hear the OTP in Brisy wasn't a good experience. You will look back in 10 or 20 years and confirm that you made good choices. Onward and upward.

Hi Everyone

Well I am a bit of veteran to the property industry, purchased my 1st property at 18, but I never tire of learning about it and meeting people who want to invest in it. So some info about about me...

I have been involved in numerous areas of the property, finance and investment industries since 1979 and my career has seen me gain valuable knowledge in various aspects of property finance, property development, real estate sales and project marketing.

Since 2000 I have worked part time developing 2 -3 Investment properties per year which have generated sufficient Profits to enable me to look after my children and myself comfortably (I have been a Single Dad since 1994). I am a Professional Property Investor who specialises in Small Lot Subdivisions.Prior to that (1990 to 1999) I worked with and consulted to a number of major land developers and project builders. I also had an 11 year career (from 1979 to 1990) in the finance industry included management roles with a number of major financial institutions as well as a couple of Boutique organisations.

I joined this course to obtain a Cert IV and improve my qualifications as well as wanting to keep my skills sharpened and share the journey with others rather than attempting to do it all myself as I have done for too many years.

I am also a Seminar and Personal Development Veteran having attended seminars for more years than I care to remember - I actually attended seminars by Jan Somers back in the 1980's and many, many, many other speakers, presenters and spruikers. (From the great ones to the very ordinary ones)

I look forward to sharing this journey with you

Hi Everyone,

I'm Sim, a Canberra girl (well, technically Queanbeyan at the moment) and I am very excited to be a part of this wonderful learning opportunity. My family is passionate about property, and for many years I resisted the lure of property, thinking that I would never be able to 'make it' through property. Well, now I have a few properties under my belt, but I certainly feel that I have a long way before I could call myself a savvy investor. I am looking forward to learning the skills of successful investing, rather than just collecting houses and hoping for the best!

Great to be reading all about this diverse community that is the PropertyInvestorTraining cohort, and a big thanks to Steve for developing this course and for being such an inspiration.

Hi
My name is Tam. I am 54 and live in Perth with my partner who is 64. Although I have bought and sold numerous times over the years and renovated I am quite the novice. We are in the process of rebuilding our house, and yes it will be worth it, and no it would not have been better to bowl it over and start again. We were in the same mind as many over the past few years of Capital gains being the way to go. We borrowed to purchase a property and although it covers itself we are a little stuck now. It is a new house, no way to improve it, but also I am concerned that if we sell it we may have trouble borrowing again due to our ages. The house we live in(the building site) is mostly debt free but is in a state not to be valued. We expect to be finished the building some time this year and will have a good asset. My thoughts were that once the building is finished then to pay down some of the other house then hopefully refinance into a third property with a view to renovating(cosmetic only this time) or subdividing.
Also would love to catch up with others from Perth. We don't have friends who have the same investing interests.

If anyone out there has some suugestions(am only a small way into the course) then would love to hear them
Thanks
Tam

bethp

Hi tam, if you have not already done so it would be worth your while to speak to a bank or mortgage broker about your ability to borrow. I have gotten the impression that banks do loan to people with loan terms that go way past a usual retiring age. I asked a mortgage broker why is it so and he said banks assume it will be paid out later from a lump sum or sold before the term is reached, so they just ignore age. Also a mortgage broker knows what banks are looking for and how to best present your financial position, just make sure they are a good broker giving relatively impartial and sound advice.

I feel in a similar boat to you with a negatively geared property, am about to sell my ppr and move interstate, but if moved into the other property I would have no money spare for any costs or deposits without borrowing all of it. Am contemplating buying another cheaper place and putting the spare cash on the neg geared one so it loses less money, and then using that offset account money for another better investment property when it seems the finances would allow.

Hi Guys

I have just received my course materials and am rearing to go ! I've spent the last 7 years in Sydney agonising over wanting to buy my own house to live in but insisting on staying in an area where property is not readily affordable for a first home buyer (the Eastern Suburbs) in order to be close to friends and fellow countrymen. I have finally accepted that there is no harm in renting where I want to live and investing in property rather than going round in circles watching the dream of owning a home getting further and further out of reach. I read Steve's first book while living in South Africa and have been a fan ever since. It's time to put the theory into practice and I'm hoping to meet as many of you likemided people out there.

Really excited to be attending the conference this weekend and hoping to also catch up with some of you there and in Sydney on my return. Contact me on noray20@hotmail.com. I'm based in the CBD for work so can always catch up for a coffee.

Cheers

Hi All,

My wife and I and 3 kids Live in Lorne Vic. We manage the Cumberland River Holiday Park on the Great Ocean Rd - Some of you may know it - it has been here since 1900!!

I have just signed up to the property apprenticeship and am looking forward to cracking into it! I have limited investment experience with one property in Southern NSW ( Used to be our family home) and one under construction in the Hunter Valley. Managing them from here on in will hopefully be more educated than guessing as i learn a few of the techniques to generate as much cashflow as possible from the properties.

I am sure i will learn a lot from being associated with you all and hopefully i can give something back as we get further down the track.

Kind Regards

David.

Hi everyone,

I started the course last year, but have been busy procrastinating and pretending to not have enough time. Anyway, since the mega conference I've run out of excuses and I'm looking forward to getting restarted. My wife (Elaine) and I have 3 kids and we live in the eastern burbs of Melbourne. We've tried our hand at a number of property investment flavours over the years and have had some mixed success. More recently we have done a couple of subdivisions and also have a small portfolio in the US after following Steve there a few years ago.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting stuck into the program (again) and hopefully can keep on top of the natural inclination to procrastinate. Ideally I need some ideas about how to make studying fun as I can't stop thinking that I'm not that into it. Perhaps my incentive will be that I want to be able to teach my kids these principles so I have to understand it well. Maybe I can do a Dr. Seuss version of the material or use Pokemon to draw analogies... hmmm... I think I'm onto something there. I'm also into puppets and have a hippo and orangutan that could do simulated conversations to discuss the ins and outs of various strategies. Yes, that would be fun.

:)

John
Hi there, my name is John, I just enrolled yesterday and I'm excited and looking forward to getting the most out this CIV and fully implementing what we all learn.
The mega conference helped cement in my mind to take steps to secure the future that I want to achieve for myself and my family. Yes lots of "aha" moments for me during the 3 days.
I live Preston, Melbourne, addicted to the peanuts in the city (that’s where I work) ,happy to catch up with others to discuss the course or investing.
My experience in property is 1-  I bought a block of land when I was 17 held it for 10 years and sold it for a negative return. 2- Did a major Reno that increased the value greatly .3 - another Reno, another great increase in value. I had lost my investing mojo but now have it back thanks to the Mega conference so we are going to sell our home and the negative geared property then rent a property to live in ie call back the money that's stopped working and get it working again by putting into, you guessed it, a Reno or ?
I was "gunna" do this a couple of years ago then that bloody procrastination mindset set in. I'm now out of that mindset as I think of if only I had started again 3 years ago when I knew I needed to what do something, but it was all too hard to see with life clouding my view forward .After the Mega weekend it has all come so much clearer.
I know Steve this is how the conference was beautifully structured ,the formula from the Romans being get them angry about their situation ,give them hope they can improve it and give them the action to follow to improve. So big thank you Steve for the wakeup call !
This course will be a big part of me taking the action ,trying to work out my passive income stream though I’m not sure if I’m having buyer’s remorse from Derek Gehl’s internet course or is this because I haven’t heard from Derek’s people? Has anyone who signed up heard?
John

John

All is on track beginning this Saturday morning with Derek ,busy, busy busy for the goal.

I know the feeling of enrolling in some expensive course and then wondering if it was such a good idea after all.  I have done that a couple of times lately, and have stressed about it, but think: hey, I have done it now, live and learn, and I hope to still make the most of it.
I think that it's a question of trying to judiciously choosewhat will work best for us, and then give it our best shot.
I realise, and I think Earl nightingale points out that you have to produce  value to expect to get paid, that what I get out of life is dependent on me being willing to put in effort.  I think earning money from any strategy such as Derek Gehl's or property renovating or subdividing all require a lot of effort to actually get something off the ground and learning how to do it.  Good luck with the DG course, I hope you get a lot out of it.

mayee

Hi everyone,

My name's Mayee and I'm from Melbourne (Tarneit).  I'm 39 and work in IT.  I have just logged onto the website for the first time today.  I've also recently just received the course materials and am yet to open it, as I have to admit, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment.  Property investing is all new to me.  I happened to read Steve's 0 to 130 Properties book just a few weeks ago, found out about the Property Investing website shortly after and read about the 2012 Mega Conference which I decided I must go to if I really wanted to learn more about property investing.  And sure enough, I was in for a lot of learning!  My head was literally aching on the first night from all the information.  A big thank you and congratulations to Steve and everyone who made that event possible!

I'm really looking forward to learning more from this course and successfully applying all that knowledge after.  I'm also looking forward to sharing this journey with everyone else on the course.

Welcome to Mayee,

Remember to set yourself a goal, a plan and strategic outcome, and then chunk down the road map to smaller pieces so you are not overwhelmed by the task ahead.

All the best,

David

Hi Mayer, I felt intimidated at the beginning too, and at times the work seemed difficult and overwhelming, but I have grown and learned and it was definitely worthwhile, so good luck to you, I am sure you will find the same.  I too found the course after reading the book and got online to find out more and then going to a market update.

Hello to all Property investor apprentices

John here from Chatswood in Sydney NSW.I'm very excited about learning a new "trade"!!! I use that term because i'm a builder who did my carpentry apprenticeship 20 yrs ago. I bought my first house when i was 19. Bought an investment property (not far from home..."so we could keep an eye on it"...Ha ha. Won't do that again) at 22. Long story short, divorce...I got unit...She got house...i meet new girl at 28 yrs old (still happily together today)...sold my unit to but a bigger one in better area...sold bigger unit for a house in an even better area...renovate/extend that house and sold at auction this year around Easter!!!!

I'm so glad i purchased your book Steve (which is now personally signed from the mega conference). It's the first book i've read from cover to cover since "all quiet on the western front" at high school. Seriously. Since the conference, not a day has gone buy without me reading more books, joining webinars, setting up alerts on domain and taking days off work during the week to check out new properties for investing/developing. It all pays off because i've just secured a property for a very small development that i'm comfortable in doing. Can't wait to get stuck into it...after due diligence of course!!!

I'm loving the learning

Regards

Hi Everyone

I have just joined the Cert IV group and am keen to get going with the work!  I haven't yet received 'The Folder' but am sure it will be here soon.

I live in Toowoomba QLD and am excited to learn about investing from someone who has done it well - that would be Steve- and from others keen to improve.

My hsuband and I have owned various 'investment' properties over the years but against Steve's way of doing things we really didn't invest we just bought property and thought it probably would be a good investment.  At the moment we own no investments but will.

I bought Steve's books many years ago, have read them many times but kept doing things the same way!  Last year we went to Steve's workshop in Brisbane and thought we need to do things different to get a different outcome.

Cheers

Wow
Took a while to read (skim) through the posts.
All sounds promising - though it appeared not as many as I thought from Sydney.
I'm from the NorthWest of Sydney (Hills area) with a magnificent wife and 2 fantastic boys.
We, I guess you call it "investing" for near on 10 years???
Means we bought a property Dec-02 and its worth about the same today as it was then - so much for doubling every 10 years! and has always been negative geared. So we've learnt a little from that - but somehow have managed to do ok despite that.
We have sold one - our former place of residence, bought our current place of residence, and then a bit over a year ago bought a Duplex (all within Sydney)
Well poised to make the next move(s) but looking for the eductaion to make a more informed choice.
Joined the "Apprenticeship" at the 3-day Mega conference as a result and have commenced the course in Jul-12.
Look forward to what comes next!
Cheers

I has a similare experience in Canberra when price of my house was same ten years later after buying in '92. Then it gradually started building in price (from about 130k to probably 480k last year and now a little less. I think the doubling they have worked out baed on historical prices averaged over 40 years so we get the impression it is a smooth rise when it is really a very uneven rise, and who knows what will happen in next 20?

G'Day everyone,

I am just starting the course in July 12 so I have a fair way to catch up, but luckily Steve told everyone at the 14 July seminar to start agin - so I guess we're now even...

My wife and I have had an interest in property and made our first purchase in 2005 in Darwin. We've made a few mistakes along the way (sold the one we should have held, bought the one we should have walked past etc....) but I'm really looking forward to getting some professionally designed and presented education. We attended the Property Mega Conference this year and committed ourselves to giving this a real go and taking action - hence I'm on this course and the property we shouldn't have bought is on the market so we can re-structure and do it properly. I live in south West Melbourne if anyone else is keen for a catch up.

Looking forward to the course, proficiency, profit, and new friendships,

Cheers,

Brenton. (POD 12)

I have just caught up with my emails from steve and I see the pods relate to people who are doing the born to be financially free program which Steve is running for his next book.

Hi Brenton, I still haven't received the material for the course yet so I am even further behind.

I met Steve some 2 years ago and that was when my interest in property started. I have been to every "free" seminar I could attend to learn more about property and finally just this year I decided to bite the bullet and pay for a mentor (most other successful people I know have had a mentor and / or still have one.)

I have recently sold my PPOR to free up some cash and pay off our debt. We have looked over our income/expenses and have applied a budget plus set up many bank accounts to facilitate our new way of managing our money... So happy to say that we are on our way to Y-E=S!

I really enjoyed the first session in Melbourne and looking forward to the next one.:)

My name is Maree a small business owner in regional NSW. I am loving the empowerment that this course is providing me. The facts, the figures, but more importantly the self awareness. I enjoy any time spent on personal and business strategy and really look forward to the competency and proficiency and how it will benefit all in my world. A million thanks!

I'm Tanya, single, 38yo, currently living in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates where I work in the Finance industry.  I've been here nearly six years, and I've been spoilt.   Don't pay tax, have overseas holidays every few months and have a maid visit twice a week (I try not to feel guilty, I pay her above market rates, the money ends up with her family in India, putting them through school, food on the table etc)...   So there is a benevolent aspect to my lack of interest in domesticity!

The UAE is great fun.  But its not "real".  Now, I'm ready to return to Australia.  At this stage of my life, It seems that I define financial freedom as being in a position to pay someone else to do my ironing in the first instance, the rest of the housework in the second.  I value my time and I would be happy to never have to iron another shirt or pick up the vacuum cleaner ever again in this lifetime.

I just happened to be back in Adelaide for two weeks and saw that Steve had an update session.  Had just finished reading 0 - 260+ in 7 years and was curious to learn more as part of the reason for being back in Adelaide was to buy another property.  (I have one house, somewhere I would lke to live in the future, currently rented out to great tenants (negatively geared)).

Rather than buying another property I decided to join the RESULTS mentoring program instead, saving my deposit so when the program kicks off in March 2013 I'm in a better position to make an informed decision, and act on it.

Now anxiously waiting for the course materials to arrive so I can get cracking.  I've already identified two adjoining blocks of land that are for sale (but not advertised) would be perfect for a small development, wondering how to go about putting options in place...   Hoping the materials will provide directions (if anyone can recommend resources in the meantime that would be appreciated)

While I was back in Adelaide I also had a meeting regarding a job which I hope to hear more about in the next few weeks.  I'm thinking about asking them for a three day work week so I had two days to focus on the course and investing.  But that seems so "cheeky" - this would be me stepping outside my comfort zone for sure.  Not to mention the financial implications....   Would love to hear from someone who has made a similar leap of faith, and how it worked for them.

Anyway, thats my introduction.  I arrived back in Abu Dhabi yesterday and its about 5.30 in the morning here (jetlag kicking in).    Really excited about the program and where it may lead.   Hope the materials arrive soon - I can't wait!!!   Look forward to meeting other RESULTS members, there is so much we can learn from each other, not to mention from Steve.

Hi Tanya,

Im jealous! It seems so easy to see others in a different light to how we see ourselves. That is we always see the opportunities others have had and are perhaps more likely to be blind to our own. Im really being self-reflective here but I did want to make a few points. The main point is really encouragement. You have every opportunity in front of you to be successful in property and in changing your living and working arrangements. I guess the thing that struck me about what you said was about the job you applied for and how you felt it was cheeky to ask for a three day work week. One thing I have learnt from Steve and others who have been successful is that you can and should ask for what you want. Perhaps (and I dont want to get into religion) this is a benefit that comes from faith as well - ask and you shall recieve etc. Whether we are religious or not I think that there is wisdom in this simple fact because if we dont strive for what we want then it is left in the balance for others to make decisions for us. I dont mean to sound like ive got more experience or I know better but simply to offer a word of encouragement - you sound like you have enthusiasm for what you want and the means to get there. Hope things work out for you. Tom.
